Taking a resolute step to protect consumers, the Federal Government has cracked down on illegal loan apps, delisting a total of 37 of these unscrupulous platforms.
This development signifies the government’s commitment to safeguard its citizens on the significant increase in the number of fully approved loan apps, which has now grown to 164 from 154 in the latest update. While the number of loan apps with conditional approval has slightly declined, going from 40 to 38, the list of apps under the watchful eye of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has swelled to 56 from just 20.
This stern action follows reports of harassment faced by Nigerians from unregulated loan apps, prompting the FCCPC to permanently delist two such apps from the Google Play Store. The FCCPC had previously called on Google to remove these illegal apps operating without regulatory approval or violating established guidelines.
Here are the 37 delisted loan apps:
Swiftkash App, Hen Credit Loan App, Cash Door App, Joy Cash-Loan Up To 1,000,000 App, Eaglecash App, Luckyloan Personal Loan App, Getloan App, Easeloan Apps, Naira Naija, Cashlawn App, Easynaira App, Crediting App, Yoyi App, Nut Loan App, Cashpal App, Nairaeasy Gist Loan App, Camelloan App, Nairaloan App, Moneytreefinance Made Easy App, Cashme App, Secucash App, Creditbox App, Cashmama App, Crimson Credit App, Galaxy Credit App, Ease Cash App, Xcredit, Imoney, Naira Naija, Imoneyplus-Instant, Nairanaija-Instant, Nownowmoney, Naija Cash, Eagle Cash, Firstnell App, Flypay, and Spark Credit.
